Summary of Role:

We are seeking summer interns to support our Applications, Quality & Analytics (AQUA) team in the characterization and tracking of our Residential Solar and Storage fleet. The Analytics and Remote Operation Center teams provide visibility to the fleet at large. We are expanding our analytical capabilities to assess fleet health, operation, and performance, as well as pinpoint signatures that may impact customers and system performance. Our analytics infrastructure will be used to derive conclusions from terabytes of data generated by millions of power electronics devices. Interns in the AQUA team will focus on system characterization, early detection methods, and site screening.

A strong preference is for candidates with an interest in solar and energy storage, curiosity about the practical application of statistics, and a burgeoning passion for data-driven decision-making. Energy experience preferred; however, candidates with coursework in STEM will be considered.

Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:

  • Learn basics of solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage operation
  • Gather user feedback, translate requirements into product or tools, and train end-users on application operation
  • Write queries and procedures in SQL & NoSQL query languages
  • Develop dashboards to capture key metrics and trends for operating fleet
  • Complete system-level review, analysis and diagnosis
  • Create presentations to provide updates on emerging trends, risks and issues through an analytical framework

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in a STEM field. Preferred entering third or fourth year of a degree program.
  • Introductory knowledge of statistics
  • Introductory experience with either BI toolset or Python analytics environment

Essential
Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python or comparable programming language for analytics
  • Experience writing queries in SQL or NOSLQ database language
  • Working knowledge of statistical concepts

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Completed course work in power electronics and/or control systems; and database development
  • Should be able to communicate clearly with cross teams in the projects
  • Should be a good team player and a quick learner with an aptitude to pick up things fast

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office work though work will be performed remotely (work from home)
  • Light lifting may be required
  • Some travel may be required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
